Yes, North Fields is a real family-run farm. We take care of our land every day, grow our own coffee and cacao, and keep the same traditions our family has followed for four generations.

5. Where does North Fields grow its coffee and cacao?
North Fields began in Naranjo, Alajuela, and most of our coffee is still harvested there. Our cacao comes from the regions of Guatuso and Upala, where the climate and soil are ideal for growing cacao. The tour takes place in La Fortuna, where we live and where all the processing, roasting, and chocolate-making happens.

In La Fortuna, we handle the full production side of what you see on the tour. This includes drying and milling the coffee, roasting it, grinding it, and packaging it. For cacao, we process the beans, prepare cacao drinks, and guide you through each step of turning cacao into chocolate. All of these stages take place here on the farm.
